Are You Quitting 5 Minutes Before Your Miracle?

Have you ever felt you were progressing nicely toward your goal only to find things falling apart as you neared the finish line? Have you felt discouraged or given up when this happened? You are not alone. During times like these what we don’t know can hurt us. The greatest mistake anyone can make during these times is to lack the understanding that this is part of the process in the growth and development of any goal. As Ralph Waldo Emerson wisely reminds us, “Every calamity is a spur and valuable hint to move you along.”

Conflict and contrast create the necessary energies for creation to occur. In his book, The Magic of Conflict, Tom Crum shares that conflict is an important part of life. It is neither good nor bad. Without the conflict of the ocean crashing against the shore, we would not have beautiful sandy beaches to enjoy. There would be no ocean tides without the polarized forces of nature. Without night we would never know the contrast of day. Unless we have experienced sadness, we would never recognize happiness.

Conflict and contrast is a part of life and a part of every hero’s journey. There are times of sunshine and times of shadow. Just as nature has her seasons of winter, spring, summer, and fall creating change each year, so too in life there are necessary polarities that occur with time, energy and momentum to bring about change. Polarity creates conflict, and conflict is required throughout life to create the energy for movement, momentum and development. Without the contrast of negative energy, we would not know positive energy. Imagine you have two magnets. Each magnet has an end with a positive field and an end with a negative field. When you put the two negative ends together they will not attract. Unless you connect a positive and a negative, magnets have no capability to attract. When we understand how opposites attract, we can begin to use the negative times to attract even greater positive events in our lives. Our task then becomes to recognize and realize the gifts available when conflict or negative energy is present.

So how can we begin to use the laws of polarity and the laws of contrast to work in our favor? First begin to accept that conflicting forces are a vital part of life itself. Don’t take it personally. Instead, observe and find the gift present in these moments. The next time things look as if they are falling apart or turning negative, notice how much energy is present.   Ask yourself how could you utilize all that energy to transform it into your desired outcome? Times of contrast and conflict show us the way by providing the opportunity for clarity about what we truly want. Negative situations serve to strengthen our commitment about what is most important to us if we refuse to give up on our dreams. In nature, it is always darkest just before the dawn. Often people quit during the toughest moments without realizing they’re only five minutes away from their miracle. James Allen says in his best-selling book, As a Man Thinketh,A person cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts, and so indirectly, yet surely, shape his circumstances.”

Next time you are experiencing stress from any negative situation, remember it is exactly the perfect moment to embrace what is occurring rather than resisting it. Seize the opportunity to harness all the energies at hand and turn the tide by staying true to your vision and focusing all the energy in the direction of your dreams. The more feeling and focus you put toward your vision in these moments, the faster the tide will turn. Remember feelings are the key. Keep them aligned to what you want rather than what you don’t want or what you fear may happen. Stay your course, and watch your miracle begin to unfold. It is never too late. May the force be with you!

"Life, in all its uniqueness, would not be life without the negatives and the positives. That is why it is important to be a serious student of both." -- Jim Rohn
